Mishkenot Sha’ananim was the first Jewish neighborhood built outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, at the initiative of Moses Montefiore. Today the renovated neighborhood serves as a conference center, a guest house for artists and academics with luxurious accommodations. The guesthouse is one of the most impressive historical buildings in the city. Mishkenot Sha’ananim is also one of Israel’s most important centers for chamber music, master’s classes and recitals. In addition, the Conrad Adenaur Convention Center and the Jerusalem Center for Ethics are housed there.
